His style or manner was acquired before the broad, impressionistic style swept Europe. His handling was conserva- tive. His colorings were those of the Munich school of the times. He was a great admirer of the works of Eich- oltz, which he delighted to copy, doubt- less gaining greater breadth of hand- ling from the experience.
