Grady who laid down the platform: "We believe that there is an instinct ineradicable and positive which keeps the races apart. We add in per- fect frankness, however, that if the South had any reasonable doubt of its existence it would, by every means in its power, so strengthen the race prejudice that it would do the work and hold the stub- bornness and strength of instinct.
