We have seen that such a change would not be one for the worse in respect of worldly circumstances, and we cannot suppose that it would be for the worse as respects their position in society. Our master's position might even be an enviable one to not a few of the beneficed clergy. We may therefore suppose that many of these schools would at once be filled by candidates from the Church, and by men who had received an university education.
