It remembers that here a man " hath no conti...nuing city ; " that " he cometh up and is cut down like the grass;" that "he continueth not in one stay ; " that he is a pilgrim passing through a country in which he is closely concerned for the time, but which is only one stage of a far longer journey. This is not the place to show why we believe this to be a scientifically accurate view of the facts of life. But it is the place to say that this 126 SONS OF GOD.
" pilgrim view " is not any unwholesome sentimental- izing of a melancholy Jacques, but a broader, more worthy, and far more moral view of life than its opposite.
