...unanimously adopted : Resolved by the Democratic citizens of the District of Columbia, That they view with deep anxiety the present distracted con- dition of the country ; that they esteem it to be the duty of every citizen. North and South, to sacrifice his party and personal prejudices, and to unite in one common earn- est effort to suppress domestic strife, and to restore to our beloTed land the blessings of pence and tranquillity.
Resolved, That the principles of the Na- tional Democratic party, agreed to at the National Democratic Convention which as- sembled at the Maryland Institute, Balti- more, have our most hearty and cordial con- currence.
