Well might Grattan exclaim: "Let corruption tremble; let the enemy, foreign and domestic, tremble; but let the friends of liberty rejoice at these means of safety and this hour of redemption." Listen to this more than mortal man when, on April 19, 1782, bespoke in support of the liberty of Ireland: "I might," said he, u as a constituent, come to your bar and demand my liberty.
