Baptism, the deliberate, decisive step which a man takes when he has surren- dered his life to Christ, is not something vague or nebulous. It realises the meaning of Christ for the soul. The Christ into whose name the believer is baptised, that is, whose possession he becomes, is the Christ who was crucified, and who, in dying, made an end of sin both for His own person and for all who are united to Him by faith.
