Without asking, the older woman took a seat next to her. “If I’d known you were coming home, I wouldn’t have let Rian go off hunting snips with Tomas. How long are you staying?” Matha asked. “They’l be back in four days.” Before they’d brought in goats, sheep, chickens and cattle, the wily little rodents had provided most of the colonists’ meat. Some stil favored the taste over the domesticated and more common Earth fare, but local cats were keeping the nearby population of snips low.
