BAR...TON COUNTY Is located in the western tier of counties, about 120 miles south of Kansas City. The surface is gently rolling or undulating, not being too flat to drain well or so rolling as to wash. The soil is a rich, sandy loam, easy of culture and slow to feel the effects of a drought; and, of the 375,000 acres in the county, there is scarcely a quarter section that would not make a desirable farm. The growth of this county has been remarkable.
Society is as good as can be found anywhere. In eight years the assessed valuation of the property has increased from $2,000,000 to 15,000,000, and the population more than doubled.
