[ABSTRACT.] Some comparisons have been made between pumps and injectors as to the mechanical work performed by them respectively in feeding a boiler; it is thus brought out very forcibly that while the injector wastes no en- ergy It does very littl...e work, most of the steam being used in warmlDg the water. It will be Interesting to notice the reason for this because it depends upon the simple principles of mechanics, which though embodied in the usual equations for the injector may not, in that form, be suffi- ciently appreciated.
