The hill of San Miguel lies W. S .W. of the City of Mexico, at a dis- tance of about 60 kilometers, and corresponding nearly to the vertex formed by the junction of the Sierras de las Cruces and Monte Alto, the Valley of Mexico being bounded on the West by the former which runs from N. W. to S. E. and enclosed by the latter on the South, nearly from due West to East. The geographical coordinates of the hill are as follows : latitude, 19° i(/ N., and longitude, 99° 19^ 17^'' W.
