The Committee on the Sustentation Fund presented the following report, which was accepted and adopted.
The Special Committee, to whom was referred the subject of the Sustentation Fund, would respectfully report : The receipts for the Fund during the last year have been $189 08.
The payments have bee...n $180. The balance in the hands of the treasurer is $313 90.
One aged minister and two widows of ministers have been aided during the past year. Only eight Churches have made contributions to the Fund during the year ; and five of the eight belong to a single classis, that of Holland. It is clear that the rest of our Churches either do not understand the object of the Fund, or do not properlv estimate it. It is the only fund which makes provision for those ministers who cannot spare the sum that is yearly required, and that for a number of years, before they can avail themselves of the ben- efit of the Widows' Fund ; or who cannot find others to raise it for them.
