He might hate me.” “Or he might not,” Daniel whispered. “I’m not sure what would be worse.” “Hell.” She leaned against him, allowing him to set an arm around her shoulder and offer comfort. She’d never tell them what he said. The details were too bitter and spoken so casually, as if he didn’t know she listened.
