And a good report at the end of term might even bring him a new bike. His mum had more or less said as much. The sun was streaming into the classroom, and even his desk was getting properly hot. He couldn’t remember that happening before. But Ben wasn’t feeling drowsy, even though Miss Rapley was going on about how amazing the earth was or something, because in a few minutes time he’d be out on the back field behind his street, playing football with his mates.
