It is now a well-estab- lished fact that formaldehyde will discharge the colours of fish, reptiles, etc., even more rapidly than alcohol.

Furthermore, formaldehyde is anything but a pleas- ant medium to work in, the liquid literally tanning the fiugers and the gas irritating the eyes and nose to such an extent as to be positively unbearable, and unhealthful to such a degi'ee as in time to produce chronic catarrh.
