What reading level is The Bible And the British Museum book?
To quickly assess the difficulty of the text, read a short excerpt:
" 1 The Book of Joshua closes with a record of his burial in Shechem. 2 From the address of Stephen we have reason to believe that the mummy of Joseph was not the only one carried by the children of Israel through their wilderness journey. "So Jacob went down into Egypt, and died, he, and our fathers, and were carried over into Sychem. " 3 The mummy of the head of the family would be looked upon in Egypt as a very sacred treasure, and it is not likely that the body of Joseph only would be broug...ht away when they left the land. The bones of each of the sons of Jacob would probably be carried by their several tribes (unless they had been conveyed thither previously), for Stephen seems to imply that all the "fathers" were buried in Shechem. There are many objects of interest in these rooms. Especially we notice, on the left as we enter, an example of very ancient mode of burial. The body is that of a fair-haired man of some early race. In the opposite Case on the right are the few crumbling bones of the builder of one of the pyramids.
