To quickly assess the difficulty of the text, read a short excerpt:
11. The Heb. gives a passive sense to crushed and oppressed, implying that this is God's judgement upon them. But those who follow the LXX make the participles active, rendering ' Ephraim practises oppression, he breaks down right,' his action being explained by the clause that follows. In the light of the following note, the latter sense is to be preferred.
