“Twink, what’s wrong?”
Tears fill her green eyes, making them look like the ocean. She looks like she’s in a daydream.
“Baby, talk to me, what’s wrong?”
I stroke down her arms and this makes her tremble more. I’m starting to freak out, so I grasp the tops of her arms tight and shake her.
“River, for fuck’s sake.” I tap her cheek, not hard enough to hurt her, but enough to get her attention.
“Sammy?”
She’s... looking at me like she’s surprised to see me.
“Twink, where did you go?”
She shakes her head. “I can’t do that with you.”
I step back.
“What?”
She looks so lost and troubled, I just want to wrap her in my arms and shelter her from all the shit, but I know it’s too late. The shit’s happened and that’s why she’s like this.
“Cuddly soft stuff,” she answers.
My body recoils. She doesn’t want the cuddly love shit with me is what she means. She really does just want to fuck me out of her system.
