Now I have no prospect of owning a big house or a yacht or a box at the opera or having ser- vants to wait on me, so that I am not discon- tented because I have not got them, and all I want is to lay aside enough so I can buy a pub- lick-house somewhere near Craven Hall and set- tle down for my old age with Aunt Jane.
