Under side brownish gray, the fore wings with a single white line beyond the middle, bent inward on the second median venule, and then outward again below. This is continued across the hind wing...s, making a rude W before the tails, from this extending inward to the inner margin. Between this and the margin is a second line, the anterior half consisting of a series of shallow crescents, the whole edged outwardly with black, broken before the first tail EASTERN UNITED STATES. 257 by an orange patch which extends inward to the first line. Outer margin of wing white, with a large pale blue patch before second tail, separated from the anal angle by a black spot, a white spot in the subcostal area of the hind wings towards the base.
