In the Prussian archives documents are treated with a solution of collodion in amyl acetate, which presumably forms a varnish, but I have no ex- perience of the results of this plan, which seems to be THE CARE OF DOCUMENTS 31 borrowed from the process used conimercially in making " patent leather.
