" It was upon the tip of Kelvin s tongue to say that it was a very trivial and inconsequential thing to do, to have perhaps ten thousand machines repeat all those idle letters at a time when they must be interrupting a number of important communica tions; but, after all, he reflected, that was the busi ness of the International Wireless Company.
Kelvin suddenly heard the ring of a buzzer that sounded like his own, and he turned to leave the room.
