The origin of this good-natured ridicule was lost in antiquity but seemed to be self-perpetuating. And people with a more serious approach to life may have transferred their loyalties and their families to other bands through the generations, leaving the reputation of the Eastern band more accurate each season.
With the arrival of the last band, it was time to begin the announcement of the Sun Dance. For three days, the keeper of the Sun Doll danced ceremonially around the entire encampment, chanting his announcement to the People.
