What reading level is The Chronicle of a Cornish Garden book?
To quickly assess the difficulty of the text, read a short excerpt:
I have plucked this infinite amount of pleasure from a garden the least promising, thus showing that (as in every other concern) the pleasure to be gained is dependent more on our attitude than on our conditions. Scarcely a bit of ground exists in England which cannot be made to grow some beautiful flowers; and, whilst I have often wished that my garden were larger and different in a dozen ways, I am 156 a Cornish Garden at last convinced that a small garden can be made to yield fully as much e...ntertain- ment as a large one, and much more than a garden which is too large for one's personal management. One has but to read Reynold Hole's *' Book about Roses" to realise the possibilities of the most un- promising gardens. If one cannot have lawns and shrubberies, one may yet grow Roses and Clematises, and Carnations and Chrysanthemums; and I have seen a wonderful collection of the most beautiful Alpine plants grown successfully in what was, originally, little more than a back- yard. It is in the neighbourhood of large towns that a garden has perhaps its greatest value, and here the gardener is indeed put on his mettle.
