In the meanwhile Meer Mahmood invaded Cara- mania, and took possession of the town and fortress of Kirman. The Persian array hearing the island of Muscat had been happily regained, and being supplied with amraunition, left Caramania for Candahar ; but when Lootf AUy Khan was inforraed that Mahmood had occupied Kirman, he led a numerous army agamst him by forced marches, and attacking the Afghan, defeated and compelled him to fly into Candahar.
