Amount of Coal. On the basis of previous works, an esti- mate was made in 1905 of the coal deposits in the coast line between Mgach and Due, over a distance of 30 versts, and to a depth of 700 feet; a calculation gave the figure of 2 billion poods of hard coal. In the following 10 years information about the coal deposits in the coast line was considerably increased: estimates made by Engineer Tulchinsky in 1906 place the amount of coal in Alexandrovsk deposit at 234 millions, in Mga- chinsk at 530 millions and in Vladimirsk at 1, 500 millions.
