[Passed, March 24, 1772.] BE IT ENACTED by his Excellency the Governor the Council and the General Assembly and it is hereby enacted by the Author- ity of the.same, That no person or persons whatsoever shall either by themselves their Servants or Slaves bring any Wood to be used as firewood into the City of Albany or into that part of the Manor of Rensselaerwyck which lays on the West side of Hudson's River, and between the North Bounds of the said City, and the Creek commonly called the fifth ...Creek and to the Eastward of a due North Line drawn from a certain point in the North Bounds of the said City, one Mile distant from Hudson's River either for Bale or otherwise, under the Diameter of six Inches if such Wood Digiti ized by Google LAWS OF THE COLONY OP NEW YORK. 891 be of the Pine kind, and fonr Inches Diameter if of any other kind of Wood at the Stump end on Penalty of forfeiting and paying the Sum of six Shillings for every Load of W^ood which shall contain mx>ve than six Sticks or Pieces of Wood under the size aforesaid, to be recovered before the Mayor Recorder or any one of the Aldermen of the said City, or before any other of the Justices of the Peace for the City and County of Albany, on the Oath of one or more credible Witnesses, which said Penalty shall be paid into the Hands of the County Treasurer and applied from Time to Time to such Public uses as the Supervisors of the said City and County or the major Part of them shall direct by Warrant under their Hands and Seals BE IT ALSO ENACTED by the same Authority That this Act shall be in force from the Publication thereof until the first Day of February, one thousand seven hundred and Seventy seven.
