Die Veneris 9 Decembris 1768 A Message from the Commons House by M r Belsher ; i5 I :to2ii2!d e 'that the Commons House have passed a Bill intituled an ISftr^Act--* Act to Amend and Continue an Act for Establishing and Regulating Patrols, and for preventing any person from purchasing Provisions or any other Commodities from or selling such to any Slave unless such Slave shall pro- duce a Ticket from his or her Owner Manager or Em- ployer; to which they desire ...the Concurrence of this Read the first Honourable House: and the said Bill was read the first time and ordered to be read a Second time.
Time- Ordered That the Bill be read a Second time on the twentieth Instant.
The House was Adjourned during Pleasure and put Howe to com- into a Committee on the Ingrossed Bill from the Com- mittee on Bill & i^be^ujrht mons House intituled an Act to impower the Commis- Houae- sioners appointed in and by "an Act of the General As- sembly intituled an Act for laying a Duty upon Negroes "and other Slaves that have been above Six Months in "any of the Islands or Colonies in America and Imported "for Sale into this Province and for Appropriating the "same towards therepairing or rebuilding the Light House "on Tybee Island ; and to prevent Negroe Convicts being "imported into and Sold in this Province ;" to build a new Light House on any part of the Land reserved for the use thereof upon the said Island ; and also for procuring an Accurate Survey and Chart of the Sea Coasts and In- lets of this Province, and publishing the same ; And for granting to his Majesty the sum of Two Thousand Two Hundred Pounds for the said Purposes; and for ap- pointing and Impowering Commissioners to issue Cer- DECEMBER, 1768.
