He has been much interested in the history of the Comey family, and nearly all of the information about Royal Comey and his descendants _has come ^f rom him. During Mr. Comey's term of service in the war 1 3 was almost constantly active, often on the skirmish hne, and once for several days scout outside the Union lines. His regiment was ordered toNorth Carolina and attached to the 18th Army Corps MHior General J G. Foster. He took part in the engagements of SheSclk Southwest Creek, KinsL, TOM^gM Newbern, Rodman's Point, Little Washington, Blount s Mills, Dover Road, Gum Swamp and Bachelor's Creek again.
