This Sir James Stanley was feated at Crollhall, in the county of Lan- cafter, and was marflial of Ireland. Ke married the fifer of Sir Percival Hart, of Lillington caftle, in the couniy of Kent, Knt. and by her had two furviving fons, George, and Henry Stanley of Aughtcn. Sir James had alfo four da'ighters, i. Anne, married to Ralph Rufliton, of Dunkin- balgh, in Chefhire ; 2. Jane, to ^ Afliley, of LnncaRcr ; 3. Mar- garet, to Edward Stanley, of Flint -, 4. Eleanor, to Gilbert Langtree, c...f Langtree, in Lancafhire.
George Stanley, the eldell fon, received the honour of knighthood. By Ifabel, his wife, daughtej- to ■ Duckenheld, of Ducken field, i^i Chelhire, he had iffue tv/o fons, Edward and Henry, who both died with- out iiTue male. Edward, his eldefc brother, died without ilTue ; and Hen- ry alfo died without iffue, leaving Henry Stanley, of Aughtcn, fecond fon of Sir Jam.es Stanley, his heir; which Henry Stanley, Efq; became the chief heir-male of this branch ; and miarrying Margaret, daughter and heir to Peter Stanley, of BickerftafF, Efq; died on July 23, 1597, leaving iffue two fons, Richard and James.
