salvation, and tliat you belong to God ? ' My sheep hear my voice,' John X. 4, saith Christ, ' and as children newborn, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby,' 1 Pet. ii. 2. A man may know he is a true child of the church if he desire the sincere milk of the word, to grow better and more holy and comfortable. If he delight in the voice of God in the ministr}', and so be affected to the truth and ordinances of God, it is a comfortable character ...of a good Christian. There are more hidden evidences sometimes, but this for an ordinary evidence is a good one and comfortable. Davidmarvellously comforted himself with this. *0h! how do I love thy law,' Ps. cxix. 97. Oh ! that we could say as he did, ' Oh how do I love thy law, and love thy truth,' that we could wonder at our own affec- tions, that we could delight in this beauty of God, as David saith here, * One thing have I desired of the Lord, and that will I seek after, that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord,' &c.
