Having attained to, and held for some years, the important position of chief draughtsman at the Langlands Foundry, which was then the largest engineering works in the Australian colonies, and there ac- quired a large experience in mining, marine, railway, and general engi- neering, Mr. Bodycomb, through failing health, attribu...table to over- work, resigned his position under medical advice, and determined to spend a year or two in the country, in order, whilst regaining health and strength, to study and gain ex- perience in pastoral and agricultural machinery and pursuits, and the knowledge and insight thus obtained have since proved very valuable to him in his patents business. Upon returning to Melbourne he accepted a position as expert engineer and Johnstone, O'Shannetsy and Co. Melb. Mr. Bedlixgton Bodycomb. draughtsman in a patents agency office, and received his appointment as a patents agent from the Attorney- General in the year 1888.
