We then tell the boy, quietly and firmly, that such and such a habit must be stopped, that we have tried to help him, that it is still as bad as ever, THE PLACE OF PUNISHMENT IN EDUCATION 129 that the very next time it occurs he will be whipped, and whipped every time until it ceases.
