' William ...A . Wheeler, one of the first iron founders in the state, began business in Hardwick in 1812. He afterwards removed to Brookfield, and in 1823 opened a blacksmith shop in Worcester, at the corner of Thomas and Union streets. In June, 1825, he formed a partnership with George T. Rice, Henry W. Miller and Alfred D. Foster, for the manufacture of castings, stoves, fireproof bookcases and doors; but in the following year the business passed into the hands of the Worcester and Brookfield Iron Foundry.
