Further, the act of 1859 did not include Allegheny (North Side), and when the two cities were consolidated the supreme court, reversing a lower court, held that the Allegheny freight yards, stations, and so forth, could not be taxed by the greater city for the purpose of liquidating its floating and bonded indebtedness at the time of annexation. Nor has this North Side railroad property paid taxes to meet the current expenses of the greater city up to 1914.
