They had made use of the freight shed since it was a 156 THE ZONE OF THE ARMIES large building and had the added advantage of having a quai, or platform, which was on a level with the car floors and thus made the loading of the trains a relatively easy matter. This big shed had been divided by temporary partitions into different rooms to meet the needs of the unit.
