It seemed thorough and practical and the Director told me that it was a manifest advantage and that in this way they were able to turn out men who in addition to being good drivers had also sufficient tech- nical knowledge to render them of value for positions which necessitated more than an un- derstanding of the requirements of the throttle and the brake. The lectures were all in French, and I am sure that the absorption of this tech- nical lore in a strange language was not alto- gether a light and easy task.
