' We know that after Foxe had pubHshed his new edition in 1570 27 EDINBURGH UNIVERSITY LIBRARY a Convocation meeting was held at Canterbury on the 3rd April, when it was resolved that copies of the work, wliich was called in the canon ' Monumenta Martyrum, ' should be ' placed in cathedral churches, and in the houses of archbishops, bishops, deacons, and archdeacons.
