To quickly assess the difficulty of the text, read a short excerpt:
Some fibres of the bundle are of different origin from the rest, arising beyond the oculomotor nucleus. These are very fine ; they are descending filjres, and are traceable from the cells of the nucleus of the posterior longitudiruil bundle, which lies in front of the Sylvian aqueduct in the grey matter at the side of the third ventricle. Some of the fibres of the posterior longitudinal bundle are stated to be traceable as far up as the thalamus. The bundle gives collaterals not only to the ocu...lomotor nucleus but also to the nucleus of the sixth, and probably others to the nuclei of other cranial motor nerves. Its descending fibres are eventually continued down the spinal cord in the antero-lateral descending tract, and give off terminals and collaterals to the anterior horn. 2. Rubrospinal trad ; Monakow's bundle. — The cells of the red nucleus send their axons downwards and forwards. They form Monakow's bundle or the rubrospinal tract, which is continued below into the pre- pyramidal tract of the spinal cord.
