To... work an ex-meridian of the Sun, Planet or Star : Correct the observed Altitude by adding the Sun's correction, or subtract- ing the Star's correction.
Take from the Tables numbers corresponding to the Hour Angle, Latitude by account, Declination and True Altitude. Add these four numbers together. From Table 4 takeout the Angle corresponding to the sum of the numbers. From this Angle subtract the True Altitude. The remainder will be the Meridian Zenith Distance. Apply the Declination in the usual way, and the Latitude found will be the Latitude at the time of the observation.
