We behold : "The green below and the blue above! — The waves caressing the shores they love." We hear "The leaf-hid locust whet his wings," — and we are glad to be told what the locust is doing when he makes that peculiar noise; we never knew before; but now it does sound like the farmer whet- ting his scythe. Vividness distinguishes the descrip- tive passages of all of Riley's nature poetry.
