What reading level is The Falls of Niagara book?
To quickly assess the difficulty of the text, read a short excerpt:
This relationship between the Chicago and St. Clair outlets now throws light on the lake history, and the contraction of the gorge, which at the Whirlpool rapids, is due to a partial diversion of the lake wat<^rs over the Chicago divide. The hypo- thesis of the future diversion of the Niagara to the Missis- sippi, with the submergence of Chicago, will have to be aban- doned as there has been discovered a cessation of earth move- ments (Chapter xxxi.) which would bring about such a change; and in the course of some centuries, upon Niagara falls retreat- ing a half mile or a little more, the channel of the river will be rapidly deepened in the drift of the basin above the falls. This will further postpone such a western diversion, if the future tilting of the land should occur.
