It is to be sowed in the spring with oats, barley, Szc. It is also usual to sow it there, as well as the corn- men red clover, with the crop of flax. It rarely succeeds when sown by itself. It produces abundance of seeds which are easily col- lected. Hop Clover; ('Trj/b/mrn ProrumJfn*,^ Grows naturally in Great- Britain, i...n dry meadows and pastures. It is recommended by Mr. Amos for laying down land to grass, by mixing it with the clover last mentioned, and the White Clover; (Trifolium Repens.) This grass grows sjk>u- taneously on dry u;)land3 in this state, after they have !)een manured with gy;)sum, or with lx)g raarle, Sec. It is a very sweet grass for pas- ture or hay, but not very productive. It is generally short-lived, but may l>e made to last longer by passing a roller over it ; for where the stalks come iu close contact with the ground, new roots will start and descend into it.
