The Dean and Chapter do not appear to have been able to raise their share of the endowment, but an Agreement was arrived at upon other lines. This Agreement provided that the Free School should be perfected and continue together with the old school. It was further agreed, to the end that no one of them should be pre- judicial to the other, that neither of the schools should entertain or take above 150 scholars until the other school was completely furnished with the like number, and that the master of the old school should not demand for himself and his ushers more than 20s.
