The Reg. however, might have been at the seige of I^ewport R. I. under Gen. Sullivan. In Feb. 1793 Peter Gale removed his family "to Barre Yt., a month before the organization of the town, and be- came the llrth family in the town ; and there purchased a tract of wild land including a part of "Cobble Hill," that lias since furnished granite for the building of the State House at Montpelier Yt,. and commenced pioneer Hfe in earnest.
