They have worshipped the idol Expediency, and they and their influence together pass away as their ex- pedients give way to newer arrangements. We have to obey the voice of God. We are not to be anxious concerning the results. That we leave to God, Who, if He can bring Good out of Evil, can surely bring Good... out of Good.
Why is it that the obedient alone can expect to see, either here, or in the life after death, that which prophet and psalmist longed to know some portion of the Glory of God ? What is this Obedience which is to be so greatly rewarded ? Obedience requires a long course of preparation, a training in self-control, the education of the spiritual faculties, and only those who are pre- pared by long and earnest spiritual preparation can hope ever to know the things which pertain to the spirit.
