Indeed we did. Perhaps we were getting tired and not looking as carefully as we should. Or perhaps he had out-thought us. With the boat beached, the sails struck, the mast shipped and the keel rolled up she could have looked very like another rock—particularly if, to go with his tan sails, her owner had tarred her bottom.
