The disciples had never seen Him walking on the water before, and theycould not understand who He was, and they cried out for fear. ButJesus was sorry for them, and He spoke kindly to them directly andsaid, 'BE OF GOOD CHEER (that means, 'Be glad'). IT IS I. BE NOTAFRAID. ' And Peter said, 'Lord, if it be Thou, bid me come unto Thee on thewater. ' And Jesus said, 'Come. ' And Peter jumped out of the boat,... andwalked on the water to go to Jesus. But soon Peter began to think ofthe rough wind and waves instead of thinking about Jesus, and then hecould not get on at all, and he began to sink in the water, and calledbut, 'Lord, save me!' And Jesus put out His hand and caught him, andsaid, 'O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?' Then theyboth came into the boat, and the wind stopped blowing. And thedisciples fell down at the feet of Jesus, and said 'THOU ART THE SON OFGOD. ' Then, all at once, they saw that their boat was close to theland.
