This bamboo is not now to be procured plentifully ; it bore fruit about four years back, and consequently all the species died. Young shoots are now springing up, and in... about three years there will be an abundant supply. Once before, about 90 years ago, it bore fruit; and there was then also a great scarcity. It now sells at 16 to 20 Rupees a thousand ; but before the bamboos bore fruit and died out, it sold at 5 Rupees a thousand. This bamboo is particularly used for walls of houses, thatching, and fancy basket-work of every description.
