Although the Guizot ministry was made up of men from different political groups it was animated by one unchangeable purpose, to return to the iK>licy of Casimir P^rier, to re-estab- lish a conservative majority in the Chamber, by means of which the stability of the July Monarchy might be assured, order be maintained within, and peace be obtained without.
